I found “Internet Cupid” on YouTube and it sounds as if Tsunku sat down with his producers, played them “Computer Driving” and “Perfume”, and said “Make it sound like that, but add an electric guitar or something so it doesn’t sound like a complete rip-off.”

Title referring to something hi-tech? Check.
Retro synthesizer texture? Check.
Electronically-flattened vocals? Check.
Videogame-style bleeps? Check.

To be honest, while with Omajinai I find annoying, I absolutely ADORE Kareshi Boshuu Chuu–it’s really adorable. I don’t consider that one as a failure. Besides–compared to most artists who have a great deal of failures, Perfume’s one or two (and it’s debateable) are a big plus over others.

Yeah, Nakata brought them up; but they weren’t shabby to begin with.

And, admittedly, even the Sweet Donuts PV is better than, say, MoMusu’s Resonant Blue.

I have to agree on the mostpart. Like, I usually burst out doing the Polyrythm dance on the bus and stuff, but some of your points are lacking. You only really refer to their latest singles, whereas if you had their discography, you would know that their have been failures in the past. I mean, apart from Omajinai Perorii and Kareshi Boshuu Chuu(their early non-Nakata works), pretty much all of their songs are amazing. Although, they have had bad PVs. Sweet Donuts is a brilliant example, and is probably their worst one to date.

I discovered Perfume a few days ago, and their songs are well and truly stuck inside my head to the point where they all pile on top of each other and float to the top of my mind when I’m trying to get to sleep.

That said, I’m a hopeless failure as a Perfume otaku, because I can’t tell which one is which. All cute Japanese teenage girls look the same to me.
